    Although their operating principle differs, MAF and MAP sensors send important information to the vehicle ECU. This information, together with information from other vehicle sensors, allows the fine control of the fuelling system.
    Vehicles fitted with fuel injection must have some method of determining the quantity of air entering the engine
    Once established, a calculation is made to inject a sufficient quantity of fuel to provide a correct mixture
    This results in efficient use of fuel, good performance and reduces emissions
    MAP sensors are fitted in various locations:
    Direct into the intake manifold
    Throttle body
    Pressure charging ducting
    Remotely located on a bulkhead and connected via a hose
